Chocolate! Good for your skin? Who knew?
A favorite beauty food: dark chocolate
Why dark chocolate is so important: It can help keep dark spots from making an appearance on your skin.
A favorite recipe using chocolate: Enjoy this recipe in the morning (or on a hot summer day, for a quick lunch), and it’ll keep you satisfied till your next meal.
Chocolate-Banana-Almond Butter smoothie (for 2…or 3)
1 banana (previously frozen or fresh)
1 peach (previously frozen or fresh)
a few strawberries to taste
1 1/2 cups Almond Breeze vanilla-flavored almond milk (unsweetened)
3 tblsp almond butter (I use Trader Joe’s Almond Butter with flax seed)
5 tsps unsweetened cocoa powder (I prefer Green & Black’s organic, but it can be hard to find)
2 scoops vanilla whey protein powder (I use Gold Standard vanilla ice cream flavor)
2 tblsp ground flax seed (or none, if you’re just beginning to use flax seed, since the almond butter has flax)
1/4 cup shelled walnuts
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla flavoring
7 ice cubes
Blend all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
Tip: For a thicker, creamier smoothie, use frozen ingredients. Buy fruit ahead of time and freeze them…then you’ll always be ready for a chocolate smoothie. Note: If your blender isn’t up to the task, then substitute some fresh fruit…or get a heavy-duty blender.
Favorite Beauty Finds!
Jose Maran’s Argan Oil Hair Serum: Look for it at Sephora.
Why I love it: It’s the best anti-frizz hair treatment ever. It smells good and will keep your hair smooth and frizz-free even on a foggy day.
